Yoga Therapy & Manual Osteopathic Therapy
HOW YOGA & OSTEOPATHY CAN HELP
Many individuals who are in pain fear movement and activity that might make things worse. If that includes you I can help. Posture and balance is also a concern for many of my clients. Posture isn't about standing or sitting up straight. It's about proper body mechanics by removing restrictions and compensation patterns that hinder you. It's also about strength. Osteopathy in combination with Yoga therapy can help improve your posture naturally and gradually, reduce/remove pain and improve quality of life. Improved posture helps us to breathe better and more efficiently hence feel better. When we breathe with more ease the whole body benefits. I offer a synergistic approach to improving chronic conditions and quality of life. The holistic philosophy of osteopathy and the age-old discipline of yoga share remarkable parallels. Both recognize the importance of anatomical alignment and a strong musculoskeletal system as the main contributors to health and longevity. Both yoga and osteopathy assert that postural alignment, joint mobility, and diaphragmatic flexibility (ability to breathe properly) are essential components of good health. Osteopathic therapy aims to find areas of the body that have restrictions in connective and muscle tissue. It restores them back to health with manual soft-tissue techniques. Yoga therapy can maximize the benefits of osteopathic therapy with breathing techniques, and exercises that strengthen and improve joint mobility. Yoga therapy can also empower the individual to self-regulate and to promote the relaxation response in the body thus increasing the body's healing potential. Lifestyle issues that create embalances can also be addressed.

"I had been treated for Sciatica for almost eight months (physiotherapy, acupuncture, massage therapy, medications); all without much improvement. My physiotherapist asked me if I had heard of Yoga Therapy and suggested that I consider it.
At this point in time, I was desperate to try everything and anything and so I met Joanne. I started at Yoga for Sore Bodies by taking sessions with Joanne that was especially formatted to improve spinal health/sciatica and within two weeks, I started to feel significant improvement... read more... Burn-out:
"After thirty years of high stress employment, the 80 hour work weeks caught up to me and I found myself burnt out mentally and physically. I never thought that this could happen to me... I found the traditional health and therapy sources unprepared to deal with someone almost crippled with fibro issues.... read more... Peter Crosthwaite, President, PA Property Management
